Children's Area

Welcome to the Athens-Clarke County Library Children's Area!

December 2018

The year is winding down, but we still have lots of great activities going on in the Children’s Area before the end of December!  Check out one of three performances of our winter puppet show! This year’s show is Bearsie Bear and the Surprise Sleepover Party.Hilarity ensues in this silly puppet show full of animal antics, based on the book by Bernard Waber.

Join us Thursday, December 13 at 3:30 p.m. for our Christmas Around the World Craft Fair. Each country around the world celebrates Christmas in its own unique way. Learn about some of these wonderful traditions by making crafts from six different countries at our drop-in craft fair while supplies last.

Winter is coming and so is Jack Frost! With a touch of his finger, the seasons begin to change. Listen to Kazuno Kohara’s enchanting story of this famous wintery character, then learn the science of snow! Short film and craft included.

Looking for a good read during winter break? Pick up a copy of Eva Ibbotson’s The Abominables at the children’s desk, then join us for our Chapter Readers Book Club on Thursday, January 10 at 4:00 p.m., featuring this title.

Registration is now open for our second session of First Steps in Music class for preschoolers! Help your child become tuneful, artful and beatful with this curriculum-based music and movement class for young children.
