February Events!

There is just so much to LOVE this month in the Children's Department of the Athens-Clarke County Library! Join us as we celebrate Valentine's Day, Black History Month and Mardi Gras. We'll start this month off with a bang by bringing in the Chinese New Year at our Dragon Parade: A Chinese New Year Celebration with music and crafts.

Black History Month is here and we are excited to celebrate Harriet Powers, local artist and African-American folk artist. Harriet lived in Clarke County from 1837-1855 and created beautiful narriative quilts based on her life and folk tales. Join us and learn about her story and create a story quilt of your own and see a replica of her work.

Children can "Let the good times roll" at our Mardi Gras Party, make heart shaped crafts at My Heart is Like a Zoo Celebration, and enjoy Special Delivery: A Mail Storytime. Download our February Children's brochure for a full list of events.
April Book Club: Have you heard...the Children's Department has a Book Club that meets every month! Make sure to pick up a copy of Judy Blume's Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing at the Children's Desk. Join us on Thursday, April 9th at p.m. to discuss the book and enjoy games and snacks.
New Year...New Adventures!
