Last Was Lloyd

Lloyd is constantly picked on by all of the other kids in his class because he is overweight and can't seem to play baseball, and the teacher labels *him* the troublemaker. His mother is really overprotective, but at least she loves him! But, Lloyd has a secret that nobody at school knows. What will he decide to do to change his monotonous life? And is Ancil, the new girl at school, really so awful?

The First Hard Times

Twelve-year-old Ancil has a new stepfather. Her mother and all of her sisters think he is wonderful, and they are thrilled with their big new house in a new town. He may be a nice person, but Ancil wonders how they could forget that they might still have a real father, not dead, but MIA, lost far away? Ancil doesn't even remember him like her sisters do, but she is determined to not give up hope that he is still alive. What can she do to change things?
