Yoon and the Jade Bracelet

Yoon came to America from Korea. She is the new girl in school. Yoon wants very much to have friends. She sees the other children play at jump rope and she hopes one of them will ask her to play. She even secretly wishes for a jump rope for her birthday. When Yoon's birthday comes her mother gives her a precious present: a story book and a jade bracelet. Although Yoon wished for a jump rope, she is grateful and wears the bracelet to school on the very next day.

At school, an older girl spies Yoon's bracelet and promises to teach Yoon how to jump rope if she will let her wear the bracelet. Yoon hesitantly lends her the bracelet. But, the older girl has no intention of teaching Yoon how to jump rope and she doesn't plan to give the bracelet back either. Yoon has to tell her teacher and prove the bracelet belongs to her. The Sea Serpent and Me
