Antebellum Architecture in Athens

Join the Athens Historical Society for our July Program "Antebellum Architecture in Athens."

James W. Lineberger will conduct this historical survey of the Greek Revival style of architecture in Athens. It features the 18 prominent built environments in this category. Not only will the presenter give in-depth descriptions of 10 of the buildings, he will also give background on the history of their occupants. With a diverse conglomerate of 19th century personalities, this presentation is both lively and informative.

Mr. Lineberger has written a book entitled Architecture in Athens: Then and Now, and teaches a course about Greek Revival Architecture at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

The program will he held at the Athens Clarke County Library, Appleton Auditorium on Sunday July 22nd from 3 to 5 pm. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
