COGS Program: Railroad Workers Retirement Records

Emma Davis Hamilton, Georgia Genealogical Society board member, past president of the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, Metro Atlanta Chapter, and adjunct instructor for the Institute of Genealogy & Historical Research will present a lecture on Railroad Workers Retirement Records and Pullman porter records.

Railroad Retirement Board established in 1935 to provide benefits for railroad workers, provide a plethora of information on employees. Most are rich with genealogical details. Presentation will also include information on the Pullman porter records.

Oconee Hill Cemetery's conversion from books to web-based records, a 160-year journey

Oconee Hill Cemetery has digitized its records and created a special web link accessible for free to the public.  This presentation will show how to search a grave at Oconee Hill, see the tombstone, view the actual burial plot diagrams and get step-by-step directions to every lot in the cemetery using GIS (Geographical Information System) technology.
