Help the Friends PAVE the way!
Have you ever wanted your or a loved one's name permanently etched in stone? Do you have a passion for reading, knowledge, or helping your community? The Friends of the Athens-Clarke County Library have the perfect opportunity for you to show your support. Purchase an engraved paver at the Athens-Clarke County Library!
With the Athens-Clarke County Library's renovation nearing its end, engraved pavers have become available for purchase on the reading garden patio near the front entrance. An engraved paver can be inscribed with your choice of names or phrases (up to two lines with 17 characters each) for a tax-deductible donation of $100. Your contribution will go directly to the library to support its collection and programming.
Memorialize a loved one or proclaim your family's love of reading for all of Athens to see! Pavers are also a perfect way for local businesses and franchises to show support for their community.
To take advantage of this unique opportunity, visit the Friends of the Library "Pave the Way" website. You can mail in the completed form and payment or pay online via PayPal. For more information, please call (706) 613-3650, ext. 336.

Storytubes Video Contest through February 24
Kids can create their own 2-minute or less video to promote their favorite book, and can learn about new titles by watching videos other kids have created. The program does include a contest with prizes, but the program's goal is to harness kids' excitement for books and share it online. Use the online form to enter the contest, watch past winners and see the official rules at http://storytubes.info/drupal.
Meet our new Teen Services Librarian!
The Young Adult department is excited to announce a new addition to our team: Lauren Knowlton! Lauren is the new Teen Services Librarian. She graduated from the University of South Carolina MLIS program in 2008 with a focus on Teen Services and headed the Youth Services department for three years at the Conyers-Rockdale Library. She is happy to be working with teens again: "One of my favorite memories from that time was forming the library's 1st anime club with the teens. I'm excited about collaborating with the Teen Services Team in order to create fun and engaging programs for Athens teens in their new space." In her free time she likes soccer, running, cooking and reading teen lit and graphic novels. Come by to say hi to Lauren and talk with her about future plans for events and services. You can also contact her on the YA website or by writing on our Facebook wall.
