Author Visit: Karen Branan

Book cover.

Wednesday, January 11, 7:00 p.m.
In Appleton Auditorium

Karen Branan will discuss her book, The Family Tree: A Lynching in Georgia, a Legacy of Secrets, and My Search for the Truth. In Harris County, Ga., a white man, the nephew of the county sheriff, was shot dead on the porch of a black woman in 1912. The sheriff sanctioned the lynching of a black woman and three black men, all innocent. For Branan, the great-granddaughter of that sheriff, this isn't just history; this is family history. Learn more at Karen's website. Co-sponsored by Avid Bookshop.
