Athens Transit is "Stuffing a Bus"

Athens Transit is "Stuffing a Bus" for Christmas with unexpired canned foods and we can’t do it without your help! All canned foods will be donated to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. Our decorated bus will be parked at the following locations, so come out and donate to help give Athens area families a Holiday Season to remember! Don’t forget each time you drop off canned items the attendant will provide you with a ticket to enter and win one of our “Stuff-A-Bus” prizes. You don’t have to be present to win!!! Drawing takes place December 15 at 5:00 p.m. at Wal-Mart on Lexington Road.

Poppy Lady: Documentary Film Screening and Discussion

Book Cover of The Poppy Lady

Sunday, November 12, 2017, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Join us in the Appleton Auditorium this Veteran's Day weekend for a screening of "Poppy Lady," a documentary by Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasters about the life of local educator Moina Belle Michael (1869-1944.) Born in Good Hope, Ga., Moina Michael established the poppy as a universal symbol of tribute and support for veterans during the First World War. DeLois Gainey from the Elijah Clarke Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (of which Moina was a member) will be joining us to discuss Ms. Michael's legacy and how the DAR continues to support the causes of American veterans.
