Oglethorpe County Library's Adult Book Discussion Group will be discussing Barbara Kingsolver's factorial recount of her family's trials and tribulations of putting a stop to the "industrial food pipe-line" and instead learning to grow what they eat on their southern Appalachian farm. For one year, her family will only purchase the goods locally that they cannot grow themselves. During this year-long attempt they will also learn how to live without those items that they could not grow or find locally. This book is the recorded events of their struggles and accomplishments all the while proving to the reader why it is always better to know where the food that sits before you on a plate has come from before placing it into your body. This enthralling narrative will definitely have a great round of discussion. Pick up a copy of the book at the circulation desk with a valid Pines library card and join us the last Tuesday of June to tell us what you think.
