Does the library have WiFi?
Currently, three libraries in the Regional System provide free wireless Internet access: the Athens-Clarke County Library, the Oconee County Library, and the Madison County Library. In compliance with the federal law(CIPA), all wireless Internet access in the Athens Regional Library System is filtered. You will not be able to adjust the filter settings on your wireless device.
At the Athens-Clarke County library, this service is available in all meeting rooms and throughout the building.
At the Oconee County Library, this service is available in the Adult area.
At the Madison County Library, this service is available in the Adult area.
If you are bringing in your own laptop and wish to use our wireless Internet connection, you will need:
- A wireless network interface card, 802.11b or later
- To configure your laptop to use a wireless connection (see your laptop manual for instructions on how to do this)
- A charged battery. There are a limited number of electrical outlets available.
- Compatible headphones if you plan to use audio files
Please note that Library staff cannot assist you with your laptop, card or configuration. The Library cannot accept the liability of handling your equipment.
