Article Q - Retirement
All regular employees, except custodians and maids, who regularly work 20 or more hours per week are required to participate in the Georgia Teachers Retirement System. The contribution to this program is shared by the library and the individual, and participation is required under the state law.
H. 3. Retirement Programs
Employment with ARLS provides involuntary and voluntary opportunities for eligible employees to participate in retirement programs. Information about these plans is available from the library’s Human Resources Office.
According to current Georgia law, certain ARLS employees are required to participate in and contribute to the Teachers Retirement System of Georgia (TRS), a defined benefit plan. ARLS also makes required contributions to TRS on behalf of enrolled employees. All details relating to plan participation, contribution levels, retirement eligibility, retirement options, or other aspects of the plan are determined and governed by TRS. Voluntary retirement accounts are available to eligible employees as determined by the Georgia Department of Administrative Services.
