Article S - Health Benefits
Regular employees who work 20 hours or more per week may elect to participate in the State Employees Health Insurance program. The library bears most of the cost of the premium for health insurance for individual coverage; family coverage is available for an additional charge. The employee authorizes the library to withhold from his salary the proper amount due for the coverage selected. The employee pays the premium set by the State Health Benefit Plan for the coverage which they choose.
The library participates in the State Merit System Flexible Benefits program. Options available to each employee include life, disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and dental insurance; legal coverage; spending accounts for health and dependent care; and tax sheltered annuities. The Business Manager has complete information about each of these programs. However, it is the employee’s responsibility to review coverage, investigate options, and to file benefit statements. The Library’s responsibility is simply to make coverage available.
