Summer Reading Program

Curbside holds pickup and book drop hours

We’re now offering curbside holds pick-upcurbside pickup at our libraries! Place holds on items using our online catalog or through the PINES app. We’ll let you know when your items are ready for pickup. Pickup hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Need help? Try our Reference Chat or call your local library branch. Our libraries’ book drops are also open for returning checked out items. Book drop hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please return items only during the posted hours. Returned items will be held for 10 days before being checked in. Don’t worry! We’re not charging fines at this time. Please note, libraries are not accepting donations of materials at this time.

Getting Started with Genealogy

Did you just get a Genealogy DNA kit? Not sure how to research records to search for family members? The Oconee County Library welcomes you to this free, informal session. Getting Started with Genealogy will introduce you to the many resources available to you when researching your family history, no matter where your family might have originated or be today. Heritage Room staff, from the Athens-Clarke County Library, will introduce the basics of genealogical research, the resources available, and how to start your family tree project! All attendees receive an information packet with resources and opportunities to ask questions during the session. Be sure to bring a pencil!
