Tuesday, November 25, 2014, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Oglethorpe County Library's adult book discussion group, Open Book, will be meeting Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 11:30am to discuss the critically acclaimed Nigerian novel, Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe. This novel was originally published in 1958 and quickly became a worldwide best seller. Currently more than two million copies of Achebe's novel have been sold in the U.S. and more than eight million copies in fifty different languages are in print throughout the world. It is the "simple" story of Nigerian tribal life before and after colonialism. Anyone interested in joining this discussion may check out a book with a valid PINES library card at the circulation desk. Registration is not required, but if you have questions or would like to sign up for reminder emails, please call the library at 706-743-8817.
Wednesdays, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
We welcome all toddlers and preschool-aged children to attend every Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30. During this hour we enjoy reading books, singing silly songs, stretching and dancing to fun rhymes and music, playing exciting learning games, and making simple crafts. It's a wonderful time to meet new friends and learn about all the great books the library has to offer. Daycare, preschool, and home school groups are always welcome!
