Tuesday, September 30, 2014, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Oglethorpe County Library's Book Club, Open Book, will be meeting Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 11:30am to discuss The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie. This is a darkly comic short story collection by a Spokane/Coeur d'Alene Indian who has brilliantly woven memory, fantasy, and stark realism to paint a complex ironic portrait of life in and around the Spoke Indian Reservation. Alexie depicts the distances between Indians and whites, reservation Indians and urban Indians, men and women, and most poetically between modern Indians and the traditions of the past in these 22 interlinking tales. Copies of the book are available for check out from the circulation with a valid Pines library card. Registration is not required, but if you would like additional information you may call the library at 706-743-8817.
