Oglethorpe County Library’s Adult Book Discussion group, Open Book, will be discussing Ray Bradbury’s classic, Fahrenheit 451. This novel has become an instant sensation since its first publication in 1953, depicting a futuristic view on American Society where books are outlawed, firemen are charged with burning any found, and the government believes “If you don't want a man unhappy politically, don't give him two sides of a question to worry him; give him one. Better yet, give him none.” This book has been the subject of censorship, received requests to have it banned, and the recipient of numerous awards. Copies of this book are now available for check-out at the front desk with a valid PINES library card. Don’t forget to register for the discussion.
