Athens-Clarke Co. Library's African American Family Scan Day

Help preserve the story of the African American experience in Athens by bringing your family's historical documents (photos, letters, family Bibles, recipes, etc.) to be digitally scanned and preserved! The first Scan Day will take place at the Athens-Clarke County Library on June 3rd. Sign up for a scan appointment on our online calendar, or call for an appointment (706-613-3650 ext. 350).

This initiative is part of the National Endowment for Humanities' Common Heritage Grant. The goal of the grant is to preserve African American families' histories, which are often underdocumented. By helping families protect and preserve their heirloom documents, we hope to ensure that everyone's story is remembered.
