New! Grab and Go Services

Many Athens Regional Library System branches will open for Grab and Go service starting Monday, September 28, 2020. Check your library’s webpage for hours.

  1. Patrons can visit the library to browse parts of the collection, place and pick up holds and check out materials, among other library services.
  2. Do not visit the library if you have been asked to quarantine due to exposure to COVID-19 or if you are not feeling well.
  3. Unvented face masks worn over the nose and mouth are required in the library.
  4. Please stay six feet away from others while in the building. Libraries have moved furniture to make this easier, and you will see signage and floor markers to encourage social distancing.
  5. A limited number of people are allowed to be in the building at one time. If the library has reached capacity, you will be asked to queue outside.
  6. Please limit library visits to one hour or less, or 30 minutes or less at some branches.
  7. Parts of the building and collection may remain closed. If there’s an item you can’t find, please place a hold for later pickup.
  8. Meeting rooms and study rooms will not be available.
  9. Patrons are asked to use self checkout stations at the library.
  10. Special bins have been installed throughout the library.  Patrons are requested to place materials they have handled, but decided not to check out into these bins, so that those items can be quarantined before they can safely be re-shelved.
  11. Library programs and events will continue to be hosted virtually.
  12. Please return all checked out items to our outdoor book drops to help us quarantine returned items.
  13. Plexiglass shields have been installed at public desks, and there will be increased cleaning of high-touch surfaces.
  14. Curbside service for holds and printing will continue.
