Summer Reading Program

The Teen Services Department gives special thanks to the Friends of the Athens-Clarke County Library. With their generous support we are able to provide prizes, snacks, and materials for crafts to teen patrons who attend our programs. Beneath the Surface: Summer Reading Program for Teens at the Athens-Clarke County Library

Who Can Participate?

Teens ages 11-18. Tweens leaving the 5th grade may choose to participate in either the Teen or Children's Summer Reading Program.

How Do I Sign up?

Come to the Summer Reading Kickoff Party at the Athens-Clarke County Library on May 17th. There teens can craft their own personalized book logs and enjoy a variety of snacks and activities. Can't make it to the party on the 17th? No worries; just stop by the Teen Services Department to sign up for the program and pick up a book log.

And Then What?

Use your book log to keep track of what you read -- novels, graphic novels, comics, audiobooks, magazines, whatever! It ALL counts. Write down the title & author, what you thought about it, or just give it an underground rating from 1-5 of how much you dug it. Read 5 books or 10 hours worth of reading to be eligible for prizes. Turn in your logs before or on Friday, August 9th in time for the End of the Summer Reading Party to claim your prizes!

For the fourth consecutive year, the Path2College 529 Plan is working with Georgia Public Library Service during the 2013 Summer Reading Program.

Legal residents of the state of Georgia who are at least 21 years of age or older, are the parent, legal guardian or grandparent of a child born in 1997 or after and who is participating in the 2013 Summer Reading Program may enter for a chance to win. Enter the sweepstakes by completing the entry form between May 1 – August 15, 2013.
