Oconee County Library Gaming Group for Adults

Oconee gaming groupInterested in Tabletop Gaming? Check out the newly organized Oconee County Library Gaming Group for adults. Born of a demand for more gaming based programming after the smash hit FanFest in April 2022, the OCLGG has continued gaming programming for the 18 and up age group. The OCLGG has focused mainly on bringing Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition to the patrons of Oconee County, but there’s more in store for adventurous folk. We’re currently brainstorming ideas for Warhammer 40K, Magic The Gathering, and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

For the past few months, the 5 intrepid heroes known as the Archmages have been delving below the surface of the grand city of Waterdeep in the Forgotten Realms. They’ve faced the likes of deadly and ingenious traps, goblin hordes, and even a fire breathing chimera in the Dungeon of the Mad Mage! Though one of their beloved comrades met an untimely fate early on in the adventure, Sah’kul, Baros Steelhoof, Richard Godwin, Grass Bravemane, & Calliope Pondskipper have pressed onward to their goal of helping bring peace and safety to those who live within the walls of the city. What other dangers will they face in the labyrinthine bowels of the dungeon? Truly only the Mad Mage himself can know! Want to be an adventurer like the Archmages, but don’t have a home game to play in? Do we have news for you!

The OCLGG is currently taking sign ups to play in the Wednesday night Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition group! Aaron, our newest GM will be running a campaign set in his own self-written homebrew world! Aaron is an experienced GM in many systems and settings, but has settled on 5th Edition for ease of play and functionality. The group runs from 4:30-8:30 PM the last Wednesday of each month. There are still openings to join this adventure, but they will go fast. Call the Oconee County Library (706) 769-3950 and sign up today!

Does Wednesday night not work for you? We’re taking suggestions on when to open more OCLGG meetups and what games to cover. A Saturday D&D group run by one of our generous volunteers will open if there’s enough interest. Please forward these suggestions and requests to our organizer Zakk Wilder at zcook@athenslibrary.org.
