Summer Reading Program for Children

The Summer Reading Program encourages children and families to read all summer long, wherever your journeys take you. You can read books from the library or from home. Pre-readers participate by having others read to them. When older children read to younger ones, they both get credit for the book.

Who is it for?

Kids from newborn to age 11.

How do I sign up?

Pick up a reading log in the Children’s Area. Certificates and prizes are earned by reading the required number of books or hours.

  • Read 10 books or 5 hours: You earn stickers and your name on the wall.
  • Read 20 books or 10 hours: You earn a button and certificate.
  • Read 30 books or 15 hours: You earn a temporary tattoo.
  • Read 40 books or 25 hours: You earn a book.
