Athens Regional Library System -Libraries Rock! Summer Reading Program

Oconee County Library

May 18 - August 1

Summer Reading Program for Children

The Summer Reading Program encourages children and families to read all summer long, wherever your journeys take you. You can read books from the library or from home.

Pre-readers participate by having others read to them. When older children read to younger ones, they both get credit for the book.

Who is it for?

Children from birth to age 11.

How does it work?

Pick up a reading log in the Children’s Area. Prizes are earned by reading the required number of books or hours.

  • Read 10 books or 5 hours: Your nametag goes up on the wall of fame, and you get a lanyard and a special pin!
  • Read 20 books or 10 hours: You earn another pin for your lanyard and can choose your favorite prize from our giant treasure chest!
  • Read 30 books or 15 hours: You earn another pin for your lanyard and can choose your favorite prize from our giant treasure chest!
  • Read 40 books or 20 hours: You earn another pin for your lanyard and can choose your favorite prize from our giant treasure chest!
  • Read 50 books or 25 hours: You earn a final pin for your lanyard, a prize from the treasure chest, a certificate, and a free book to keep!

Complete the program twice and earn prizes twice if you want to!
