Winter 2011

The Library will be closed on May 30th in honor of Memorial Day.

Changes at the Talking Book Center

There are changes coming to the Talking Book Center due to renovations at the Athens-Clarke County Library and decisions at the state level to reorganize the service in Georgia. The staff will be moving to the Oconee County Library in Watkinsville during the renovation but we should have the same 800-531-2063 phone number. We will still handle all of your calls but the books and machines will come from Atlanta so you might need to call earlier to order materials. We will not have the space in Watkinsville to house our collection of Talking Books so they will be stored at the Archives in Atlanta. We don't have a firm date on our move yet but it will probably be on or around April 1st. We don't anticipate any disruption in services due to the move.

We will continue to focus on outreach to the community so if you would like us to come give a presentation in your town, give us a call at 706-310-3650.

The address of the Oconee County Library is 1080 Experiment Station Rd. Watkinsville, GA 30677.

NLS 80th Anniversary and Volunteer Recognition

Everyone is invited to an Open House at the Talking Book Center to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped and to recognize our volunteers for all the hard work that they do. This will take place on March 25th, 2011 at 2:30 pm.
